New Era Wrestling in Mt. Healthy, OH this Saturday!
This Saturday night New Era Wrestling returns to Spears Gym in Mt. Healthy, OH for “All or Nothing;” an apt name for an evening where so much is on the line!
NEW Heavyweight Champion “The Real Deal” Dameon Steal sent in a video message for our last show, vowing to defend his NEW title against number one contender “The Soviet Shooter” Nikita Allanov on March 3. Steal had the most bittersweet evening of his life when back in January at the “Twist of Fate” tournament he captured the NEW Heavyweight title in an impromptu match with Brad Callaway (nearly two years to the day since he broke his neck, an injury that many thought ended his career) only to be assaulted later in the evening by Allanov, who viciously assaulted the neck of the new champ. Rumors circulated for weeks that Steal would be unable to return to competition and would be forced to vacate the title, as Commissioner Nate Pelley gave him 45 days to return or surrender the belt. With that deadline approaching this weekend, Steal has promised to return to the ring to face the remorseless native of the Republic of Armenia. In the meantime, Tim Lutz, Steal’s pupil and best friend, tried to exact some revenge on Allanov as they faced off in a brutal no disqualification match at “Meltdown” on February 17. Although LTL gave it his all, the much larger Allanov proved to have an unquenchable lust for carnage, as he dropped Lutz on his head with a brutal series of piledrivers and powerbombs, before unleashing his patented “Red Scare” maneuver that left Lutz motionless in the ring. The referee had no choice but to stop the match so LTL could receive medical attention. But for the third time in two months, Allanov had decimated another opponent (Allanov had also injured “The Trophy” Augusta McMullen during their semi-final match at the Twist of Fate) and Lutz joined his mentor Dameon Steal in being removed from the arena on a stretcher thanks to the “Soviet Shooter.” Now Dameon Steal is set to battle Allanov in a situation that truly defines the tagline “All or Nothing.” Can the “Real Deal” overcome the odds and remain champion? Or will Nikita Allanov continue his momentum and become the New Era Wrestling champion?
In other action this Saturday night, The Midwest Independent Championship will be on the line as the champion Nick LeBeau does battle with “The Bulldog” Garf Redman, managed of course by Ghetto Fabulous. Ever since returning to NEW, Redman has made it known he wants gold around his waist once more – and he will get his shot on Saturday night! Redman picked up a tainted win via countout over LeBeau during the Twist of Fate tournament, but appeared to be on the verge of defeat in a subsequent rematch on February 3 – that is until the Phantom interfered causing a disqualification. “The Bulldog” then pinned Nick in a tag team match pitting Redman and Phantom against LeBeau and DJ Tom Sharp, thanks to some leverage from the ropes. Ghetto Fabulous demanded his man get another title shot, and Commissioner Pelley granted the bout with an added stipulation – the match will be a “Back Alley Brawl.” The wrestlers will be encouraged to “come as they are” and there will be no rules and no disqualifications – there must be a decisive winner in this bout for the Midwest title! Can the popular mat tactician LeBeau overcome the barroom brawling “Bulldog” in such a chaotic environment? We’ll find out this Saturday night!
Perhaps the tensest situation in NEW right now involves the status of the Rebellion. Former NEW Champion Brad Callaway has made it known lately that his top priority is to reclaim the title at all costs; but it doesn’t take a genius to see that things are not well within the Rebellion group. Tag team champions “The Arsenal” Brett Grayson and “Scorpion” Chris Reno have clearly had their hands full lately, most notably with the ThrillKillerz (Logan Caine & The Madness). Meanwhile, Callaway blamed his stablemates for not being in his corner during his title loss to Dameon Steal. To further complicated things, Grayson and Reno tried to interfere in “The Punisher’s” match on February 3rd against Jay Donaldson, only for their efforts to backfire and allow Donaldson to pick up the win. Then things got ever worse for the Rebellion on February 17 as Callaway faced Donaldson in a brutal submission match. Jay locked on a sharpshooter and Callaway desperately crawled for the ropes to break the hold. But Brett Grayson ran from the locker room area and tossed in a white towel on “behalf” of his friend Callaway, which resulted in the referee calling for the bell and awarding the match to Jay Donaldson. Needless to say, Callaway was not happy that Grayson prematurely ended the conflict by literally throwing in the towel. To top things off, Donaldson was not happy either as for the second time in less than a month he defeated Callaway – but not in the decisive manner he had hoped for. When reached for comment after the show, Donaldson stated that he “came to NEW to prove I’m the best talent in the Tri-state area. I’ve beat Callaway twice, but it doesn’t mean jack until I beat his fair and square.” Callaway and his buddies have been getting along about as well as oil and water lately, but throw the combustible element of Jay Donaldson’s burning desire to prove he’s the best in the mix as well, and you can see why this situation has so many fans eagerly anticipating what will happen when all these parties get together again under one roof this Saturday night!
In an injury update, Tim Lutz was removed from the ring on a stretcher on February 17, but we are happy to report he did not suffer a broken neck. LTL was however taken to a medical facility for observation but was released. “I’m not done with Allanov – in fact far from it!” was the only comment Tim would give us concerning his current status.
March 3rd is shaping up to be a night of New Era Wrestling action that you won’t want to miss! In addition to the huge matches already signed you will also see “Awesome” Dewey Brown, DJ Tom Sharp, Tommy Blaze, “Mr. Reality Check” Big Jim Hutchinson, Evan Steele, Dave Nevada, “Midnight” Matt Ryan and many more in action this Saturday night!
