This is Insanity!

For the second year in a row, local Indianapolis fed Insanity Pro Wrestling has won a poll deciding which fed local fans prefer. Last year, the poll was restricted to Indiana based federations, but this year included feds from around the midwest, and STILL Insanity Pro Wrestling has come out on top! Now, some of you who follow Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling or IWA Mid-South (second and third place, respectively), but don't know much about Insanity Pro, don't you think it's time you learned?

Insanity Pro Wrestling started out in 2001, running modest local shows at an Indianapolis based Knights of Columbus hall. From the beginning though, IPW made an effort to put forth the best product possible for the fans, even if they didn't have a bloated budget to bring in big names, and would do so by putting the best of the locals in the best combination of matches. IPW also started out a little more hardcore than what they've become these days-A LOT bloodier, and saw some pretty bloody battles between Mad Man Pondo, EZ Cruz, Brandon Prophet, Necro Butcher and more. There was a lot of skepticism from local vets who were dead set on doing things how they'd always been done-a formula which obviously wasn't working anymore-but the fans' voices were heard.

Over the years Insanity Pro Wrestling has built a pretty good reputation for themselves locally, and some of the best independent talents in the industry have made stops to visit, such as Colt Cabana, CM Punk, Matt Sydal, The Irish Airborne (Dave & Jake Crist)-just to name a FEW. The fed also features one of the top tournaments in the midwest every year, the Super Junior Heavyweight Tourney, which continually features not just some of the best local up and comers, but some of the best Junior Heavyweights from around the country as well.

If you haven't taken the time to check out this stellar fed, check them out online at insanityprowrestling.com, and see what all the fuss is about. Their next event is next Saturday, June 2 in Indianapolis, IN at the Salvation Army Gym, located at 1337 S. Shelby St. Just to give you an idea of what this fed puts out every month, next Saturday's card will include a main event of 1/2 of The Irish Airborne-Jake Crist-taking on former Wrestling Society X star, and midwest wrestling sensation M-Dogg 20 Matt Cross, a "Pure Wrestling Showdown" between local talent "Simply Spectacular" Dave Davidson and HWA talent Jon Moxley, four of the most talented young men to come out of the Indianapolis wrestling scene will square off-OMG v. Diehard Dustin Lee v. Drake Younger v. Vortekz-and that's just SOME of the great talent you'll see featured in this fed. They don't have a lot of glamour and glitz, but if you want some pure wrestling action, you'll love Insanity Pro Wrestling.

Indy Wrestle Line 5/20 Report

Hello everyone and welcome to your Sunday update on the Indy Wrestle Line, I am the weekend warrior Randy Klemme.

Well hopefully you had a chance over the last 12 hours or so to call the Indy Wrestle Line here on option number one and catch my interview with Big Red, the wrestling preacher. A lot of people do not know Red but he is a fascinating person with a great story over his 28 years of a pro wrestling career. Big Red is a very spiritual and uplifting person to be around and from my personal view is a mentor and someone that I look up to in this business as I got my start, training in the basement of his church on the near eastside of Indianapolis. If you would like to contact Big Red you can e-mail him at faith70147@sbcglobal.net

On this Sunday, we would like to take a moment and give a couple of birthday shoutouts for the coming week. EWF star Just Justin celebrates a birthday on Wednesday of this week and WCWO’s Stu Early will be having a birthday on Thursday. So the Indy Wrestle Line sends out birthday wishes to both of them.

The Indy Wrestle Line would also like to congratulate Guy Lombardo and his wife Casey on the birth of a baby boy, named Travis recently. Guy is co-owner of NWA-Indiana.

There are a couple of shows going on today that we want to make mention…

Crossroad Championship Wrestling will be in action at the West Terre Haute Community Center, at 127 West Johnson Avenue in Terre Haute, Indiana. There will be 6 big matches including a ladies match this evening. Doors open at 6:30pm, belltime is at 7 and tickets are $10 at the door.

Also today, Absolute Intense Wrestling is having a big show at Mulberry in the Flatts, 2316 Mulberry in Cleveland, Ohio. On the card , Jake “The Snake“ Roberts takes on Steve Corino plus many more matches. There are various ticket prices from $25 for front row VIP seats to $12 for general admission. For all of the information on the show you can go to the AIW website at aiwrestling.com…

Also this coming Friday, Underground Championship Wrestling will have a show at Steve’s Gym, at 916 N Michigan Avenue in Elkhart, Indiana. On the card you will see Indy Star Josh Abercrombie and also a first round match in the UCW Tag Team Title Tournament. Ticket Prices are $10 for Adults, $5 for Kids ages 6-12, Kids 5 and under FREE!. Doors Open 6:30 and Bell Time is at 7PM…

Did want to pass a note along from IWA MidSouth Wrestling as they are having a giant merchandise sale over the next month to raise some much needed cash to pay off a judgement handed down by a southern Indiana judge recently. The judge ruled that the owners have to pay for a damaged floor at the Oolitic, Indiana Community Center as the result of a 2004 show there. Apparently only a small area was damaged, however the judge ruled in favor of the community center and town to have IWA MidSouth pay for refinishing the entire floor. You can go to their website at IWAMidSouthwrestling.com to find out more about the sale. I believe they have almost everything on sale right now including all of their DVD’s and T-Shirts.

Well last night, there were a few shows that took place and YES we have some results on this Sunday.

Indy Wrestle Line 5/19 Report

Indy Wrestle Line 5/19 Report
Independent Wrestling Update
http://theindependentsday.blogspot.com/
1-317-592-9401 option #1

Hello everyone and welcome to your Saturday update on the Indy Wrestle Line and YES the weekend warrior Randy Klemme has returned.

I just want to thank Adam Simmons for filling in while I was away and speaking of Adam, there was some discussion this week on themidwestinsider.com message board about the hotline and the website. People do not realize the passion that Adam has for the professional wrestling business. No he is not a wrestler, referee, manager or promoter. Adam is a fan that has gone the extra step in providing the public with the Indy Wrestle Line and themidwestinsider.com out of his own pocket. No, neither are free and it costs Adam several hundred dollars a year to keep both going. Some on the message board I do not think have an appreciation as to what Adam does, but I think everyone owes Adam a debt of gratitude.

There are a few shows tonight around the Midwest….former WWE and Tough Enough Star Al Snow will be at the EWF Arena in Marion tonight at 3400 S Adams Street. The belltime there is at 7:30pm. You will also see Midwest Champion Devan Monroe, Apocalypz and Pogo all on the card. Doors open at 6:00 tonight at the Parks Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children at the door.

Speaking of Big Red, you may want to check back later tonight on option number one as I hope to have a special interview with Big Red from Greensburg…

A couple of other wrestling notes….we send best wishes to Gregory Helms who will be undergoing surgery in the very near future on a neck problem. Reports are he may be out of wrestling for a year….and the WWE is at it again letting more wrestlers go. They were Scotty 2 Hotty, Ariel, Nick Mitchell and Angel Williams.

Cleveland All Pro Wrestling News Update--5/12

Cleveland All Pro Wrestling News: May 10, 2007

HOT NEWS: CAPW BIGGEST SHOW EVER COMING AUGUST 5!

Traditionally, CAPW provides its biggest and best live event of the calendar year during the summer as Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling celebrates its anniversary in style. This year, however, CAPW takes it one step farther. The announcement was made official this past Sunday that on Sunday, August 5, Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling makes its debut in the Plain Dealer Pavilion, located on 2014 Sycamore Street to celebrate our anniversary with "A Night of Legends". It'll be the largest, most star-studded happening in Cleveland All-Pro history! Come join the record-breaking crowd that will be on hand to witness all the biggest, best, and brightest stars from wrestling's past, present, and future.

Following a wild altercation at our last live event, the evening's main event has already been penciled in. Should Tracy Smothers escape our June 3rd live event still CAPW Heavyweight Champion, he will finally step into the ring one-on-one against the 6'8 300+ pound unstoppable Jason Bane. Smothers has been ducking Bane's challenge and screwing him at every opportunity, culminating at our last event when Smothers was directly responsible for Bane losing his Television Title to Conrad Kennedy III, shattering Bane's hopes of unifying CAPW's two top singles titles for the second time. Now, Bane will face Smothers one-on-one, and there will be nowhere for Tracy to hide, no shortcut for him to take… because the match takes place inside a 15 foot high STEEL CAGE!

Much much more will be revealed about CAPW's Plain Dealer Pavilion debut set for August 5th. Stay posted to our CAPW Newslines as well as CAPW.net for all the updated information!

NEXT CAPW LIVE EVENT: SUNDAY, JUNE 3!

Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling returns to the famed Turner's Hall, located at 7325 Guthrie Ave. in Cleveland, on Sunday afternoon June 3 with "A Hot Summer Night". Doors open at 2 p.m. for our belltime of 3 p.m. This WILL be a taping for CAPW TV on Sports Time Ohio, so bring your signs, banners, and enthusiasm, and be prepared to have your image available in nearly 3 million homes in the state of Ohio, and nationwide on select systems. Tickets are available in advance at any of our ticket outlets, and also at the door the afternoon of the event. Get ready for three solid hours of the best professional wrestling in the area: Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling.

The main event has already been signed!

CAPW Heavyweight Title: Tracy Smothers vs. The Blue Meanie
It's a feud that has been ongoing for ten years and counting, and shows no signs of letting up. The Smothers/Meanie bad blood began back in the original ECW, with Smothers representing the Full Blooded Italians (FBI) and Meanie representing the Blue World Order (bWo). After a series of unforgettable wrestling contests, as well as dance-offs, nothing was settled. The rivalry was re-ignited two years ago after a falling out between the two stemming from the aftermath of the controversial first WWE ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view. They've battled each other all over the US and into Europe, but never have they met for a major singles title, but June 3 in Cleveland the stakes are raised as Meanie attempts to dance his way to CAPW gold, and Smothers attempts to capture any momentum he can leading into a potential ominous encounter with Bane.

Many more matches to be announced in the coming weeks!

Ian Rotten Injured in Alabama Hardcore Match

    Courtesy of Gerweck.net

Ian's wife, Patti, posted this on the IWA message board last night:

"I just received a phone call from Mickie telling me Ian was injured
tonight at the IWA Deep-South show. They were on the way to the
hospital as she called me. Right now I have no details, but as soon as
I have an update , I will be back on here to let you know."

This quick report was posted on the czwfans board by someone who was
    at the show:

"from soup23 on the CZWFans board...

I was at the show. Ian and Freakshow had a hell of a match. Ian had a
nasty cut on his arem and Freakshow was bleeding buckets from his
head. Towards the end of the match Freakshow grabbed a spike and
started going to town on Ian's eye. It was gruesome. He finally won
due to stoppage and kept on digging in before MIckie and eventually
Drake Younger broke it up. Ian looked awful. I don't know if it was
his face or arm that was worse but both cuts were gruesome."

We still have not gotten official word back from Mickie as to the
severity of Ian's injuries suffered at the hands of Freak Show. We do
not know if this will affect the main event for Plainfield on Friday
    night.

From Jim Fanin--posted on the IWA MidSouth Board--

"Ian is just now leaving a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He went there to see another doctor this morning after there wasn't really anyone on duty over night to give proper diagnosis.

It is a severe eye injury caused by "recklessness" on Freak Show's part. They are sending Ian home today and have arranged for him to see a specialist tomorrow morning in Louisville. They told Ian that he is a lucky man to live in Louisville where they have some of the top surgeons on hand to deal with major injuries.

It is not known right now if it will take surgery to correct but the doctors in Alabama made it seem like it was likely.

I could not even put into words how angry that Ian is about this.

Everyone knows how pig headed and stubborn that Ian is...just like me...and he promised me that he would get his revenge on Freak Show Friday and teach him what the difference is between being a "professional" and a "reckless jackbag that shouldn't be in the ring doing hardcore."

I'm not so sure that it SHOULD come on Friday and we'll have to see what the specialist says tomorrow. If a sliver of the metal did penetrate the eye and surgery is required, there is no way that he can get in there on Friday night.

No one doubts Ian's toughness or his manhood. He doesn't have to get in there this week to get his revenge if it could cost him his eyesight in the long haul. Hopefully he will take some time to regroup and get better and let his friends get his immediate revenge for him.

I'll keep everyone up to speed as soon as I find out about his appointment results tomorrow."

    10-Falls with
    Referee David Lee

"One of the people that I consider a friend in this business is probably one of hardest working independent referees in the Midwest. David has refereed for many of the top indy organizations around Indiana. If you can't find him in a wrestling ring, you may be able to see him on stage in a play in Indianapolis, as David has found himself in various roles in some of the top plays in Indianapolis the past several years."--Randy Klemme

    1) How long have you been in the business and where did you receive your wrestling training?

DL: I have been in the business for about 10 years now. There was split time involved.
I first got introduced to the business by the Great Wiz or in later years "The Hangman". Wiz and my brother worked together and he introduced me to Bruiser and all of the gang in the late 70's and early 80's. I tried to start training back them but I ran in to some brick walls. One of those being as I was fresh out of the Navy and newly wed, I was broke and could not afford training and my wife was not real keen on the idea at the time. So I hung around, helped with clean-up, tore down rings, swept and bought Dave McLain beer for a couple of years. When I finally had enough money for training, Dick closed up shop and moved to Florida. I still am not sure my wife would have let me .I ran with Spike and PAWA for a couple of shows helping set-up, security etc, but I finally gave up on the dream. That was until 1998 or so, when my wife said okay go ahead and do it. That is when the Bouncer brought me in and let me start reffing in CCW, from there I worked with Don Basher and honed my "Skills". It has been one show after another since then with lots of help from Shawn Cook and Guy, Marty Fogleman, Steve, Bo, Itch, and many more.

    2) What organizations have you worked for and which ones are you currently associated with?

DL: I have worked with most every fed in the Central Indiana and several in Michigan. I could list them all but we all know who they are. My "home" feds are WCWO & IPW, but I certainly enjoy working with all of the others around here.

    3) Who are some of the bigger names you have refereed for?

DL: This his really become a big list but I have worked with The Road Warriors, Demolition, Hacksaw, Mick Foley, Greg Valentine, Jimmy Hart, Bobby Colt, Kamala, Public Enemy, Brutus the Barber, Tony Atlas, CM Punk, Chris Sabin, Rikishi, Nikolai Volkoff, Spike Huber, The Baron, and many more.

    4) Which match over your career was your favorite that you ref'd and why?

DL: I really do not have one favorite but I really enjoy the young talent and it has been fun watching them all mature. Working CM Punk in IPW and seeing him go on. Working with Chad and seeing him in the big shows. Working Diehard Dustins matches in the early years and arguing politics with him and seeing him mature in to great local worker, and I predict not so local in the near future, means more to me than working any big time matches. I guess it really does not answer the question but that is my thought in that direction.

    5) What is the toughest thing about being a professional wrestling referee?

DL: Getting Old, It is harder to get out of the way and to get in to the correct position, but I can still do it and would like to continue as long as possible.

    6) Any good road stories that you can pass along (keep it clean LOL)?

DL: Not really, As I am older than most anyone else in the biz around here, I do not have the stamina to hang with the youngsters and get in trouble. I generally travel alone.

    7) Are there things that you would like to achieve during refereeing career? Short term and long term goals?

DL: I have never been much of a goals kind of guy. I live for the day. I would like to go overseas some time. I missed out on an opportunity to work in Japan last year and I hope that comes back around sometime. I just want to keep improving and sure I would love to work a really big show sometime, who wouldn't.

    8) Have you received any important advice from other more famous names in the pro wrestling business and what was that?

DL: Not really, as I am older I think a lot of the guys feel weird about giving me advice. Hey I am a ref I am never wrong and I need no correcting LOL
Oh yeah, One time Grunge told me I needed to lose weight so that I looked like a ref and not a worker. He is right about that one LOL....I sure do miss that silly Son of Gun

    9) What is the BEST thing and the WORST thing about being a professional wrestling referee, maybe something that you didn't realize would be that way when you started?

DL: I never realized how much fun it is to be in that ring working with people that really are trying to do something special. I love working the locals more than I do a big Fed. It seems the workers that really care give a 110% in their efforts. They do this eventhough most of them know they will never make any real money and will probably never advance beyond the locals. I certainly appreciate their dedication.
The worst thing has to be the Politics. It seems like so many promoters are more concerned with how to bother another promoter than they are with trying to improve their product. Also the lack of respect between promotions is something that really bothers me. As a ref I usually can stay above the politics, because I will never sell any tickets for a show, but what I have seen really bugs me. I hate to be cliche' but can't we all just get along?

    10) If you had to tell someone what it's like being a professional wrestling referee, what are the three most important things you would tell them?

DL: - The first thing I would tell them is to get some good training. My motto is you quit learning when you die. You will never know it all and you can always learn more. So keep listening, observing and learning.
    - Secondly you are there to officiate not be a part of the Show, Do your job and stay out of the way
    - Love what you are doing or do not do it. Being a ref you get paid less, booed more, and sometimes beat up. If you are not prepared to do this, dont start.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me in my mid-life crisis career. I truly have enjoyed working with all of you over the past 7-8 years and I am looking forward to many more.

    Until Next Time
